Saint Vincent is by far the largest island in the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The island is very mountainous and forested. It is dominated by the largest mountain (1234 m), the active volcano La Soufrière. The climate is tropical and humid. Several endemic bird species have evolved, including a spectacular Amazon, as well as numerous bird subspecies.
Saint Vincent is located in the Atlantic Ocean. Legally Saint Vincent belongs to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Because of the number of bird species with restricted range occurring in this area, BirdLife International assigned it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P).
