Vögel auf den Azoren

The Azores are a group of volcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean with a very mild climate. The number of breeding bird species is not very large, but there are several bird species with restricted range, so that the area has been declared a Secondary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-S) by BirdLife International. Individual islands are of global importance for the bird life on earth, so BirdLife International has declared thirteen of them IBAs (Important Bird Areas). Of particular interest are the many guests consisting of pelagic, European, and North American birds.

The Azores are located in the Atlantic Ocean. Legally the Azores belong to Portugal. Because of the number of bird species with restricted range occurring in this area, BirdLife International assigned it a Secondary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-S).
