Vögel auf der Insel Guadalupe

€ 3.99 *

The island of Guadalupe is the westernmost territory of Mexico. It consists of several volcanoes, the highest peak of which, Mount Augusta, reaches a height of 1298 m above sea level. The climate is dry and warm or temperate depending on the altitude. The vegetation was largely destroyed by introduced goats; these were extirpated by 2007, but the feral cats still pose a problem for the birdlife. Several endemic bird species and subspecies had developed, but they have already largely become extinct due to human influence. The island has been declared a Mexican biosphere reserve, with the result that government permission is now required to enter.

Guadalupe Island is located in the Pacific Ocean. Legally Guadalupe Island belongs to Mexico. Because of the number of bird species with restricted range occurring in this area, BirdLife International assigned it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P).
