Vögel auf Montserrat

€ 4.99 *

Montserrat is part of the "Leeward Islands" in the Lesser Antilles. Nicknamed the "Emerald Isle of the Caribbean", the island is often associated with Ireland. The active volcano Soufrière Hills (approx. 1050 m) dominates the island, its last major eruption (1995) made more than half of the land area uninhabitable. The northern part of the island remained undisturbed and therefore lush and green. Montserrat has a tropical rainforest climate with a peak of precipitation in the second half of the year. Because of the number of small-range bird species - including the Montserrat Oriole - BirdLife International has recognized the island as part of an EBA-P (Primary Endemic Bird Area). Montserrat with its beautiful surroundings can currently be reached mainly by plane from Antigua.

Montserrat is located in the Atlantic Ocean. Legally Montserrat belongs to United Kingdom. Because of the number of bird species with restricted range occurring in this area, BirdLife International assigned it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P).
