Vögel auf der Weihnachtsinsel

€ 3.49 *

Christmas Island is the coral-encrusted tip of an extinct volcano. It lies some 360 km south of Java and 1560 km from its closest point on the Australian mainland. Due to its isolated location Christmas Island has developed a high level of endemism, and BirdLife International declared it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P). Two thirds of the Island is included in the Christmas Island National Park. The biodiversity makes Christmas Island a popular destination. Best months to visit are July through to october, between November and June the Island is subject to monsoons.

Christmas Island is located in the Indian Ocean. Legally Christmas Island belongs to Australia. Because of the number of bird species with restricted range occurring in this area, BirdLife International assigned it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P).
