Vögel auf St. Helena, Ascension und Tristan da Cunha

€ 3.49 *

The islands are of volcanic origin and lie just off the mid-Atlantic ridge. They are at least 1600 km away from the African mainland and are also very far away from each other. The climates of the islands are quite different. Ascension is hot and dry, Saint Helena is moderately humid, while the Tristan da Cunha archipelago is cool and rainy. The isolated location has led to the development of many endemic animal and plant species, including several species of birds. National parks have been established on St. Helena (Diana's Peak) and on Ascension (Green Mountain). Tourism has increased in recent years.

The St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha are located in the Atlantic Ocean. Legally the St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha belong to United Kingdom.
