National Birds

... and flags.

Many, though not all sovereign states named a national bird. On the other hand, a number of non-sovereign states or provinces selected a bird for their area. This e-book puts these symbol birds next to the flags, as far as these are recognized (Date 05.06.2024).
The scientific system follows Clements et al. 2017.

All 235 species are illustrated. The assessment of the global conservation status of bird species uses the criteria of the Red List (IUCN) 2012.
